Competitions

I enjoy entering competitions,
I find them fun...although a little stressful at times !
So far I have entered online competitions, But hopefully later on this year,
I will be doing them in the flesh !
Scary But also exciting ....
I like a challenge.

My Competition entries and placing,

2nd Place

Easter theme competition

2007

This was My first ever competition entry,

I knew when I did this image,

I wanted the nails to be the most important feature, even though mabey they may not stand out the most,

I always believe in creating a perfect canvas to create any peice of work,

All of the rest Is simply decoration !

I created the nails using a custom made powder to extend the nail bed, and a soft white to create a lovely natural well manicured look,

The daffodils and ladybirds are sculpted from coloured acrylic.

The eggs are gems covered in sweet wrapper,

As the theme was Easter I wanted to keep the look bright and cheerful,

I think the orange and yellow work perfectly !

3rd Place

Stilleto using either

embossed or encased art

2008

For this entry I tried to really focus on the overall form of the nails,

I wanted to ensure perfect shape for the stilleto look,

I concentrated most on shape, finish, and detail to the petals,

I also tried to show consistancy by using 2 nails,

Thinking back now I mabey should have kept the 2 designs similar....

But I did like the idea of the contrast of the light and airy nail, paired together with the darker, slightly mysterious nail...

I think it fitting as at the moment the weather is dark and mysterious one second, and then the next its all bright and summery.

When I was taking the pictures outside, the variation in them is amazing, all due to the lighting..as one second sun...next clouds...

I simply chose this photo, as It was the clearest when zoomed in, I wanted to ensure the judges could see my work clearly for good clear critique so I can learn for next time.

My Journey In the competition field is only just beginning,
I am hoping to take more and more as time go's on,
And as long as all go's to plan ....I will be competing with some amazing technicians at the Gmex Proffesional Beauty show later on in the year !
